Log Cabin Porch Pizazz on a Budget

Spring has sprung!  We can finally pack away the snow shovels and boots and begin to transition into spending more time outdoors.  One of the best things about log cabin living is enjoying your surroundings while relaxing on the porch.  Is it time to add a little pizazz to your log cabin porch?   Would you like to liven it up without breaking the bank?  The following are inexpensive ways to make your porch even more inviting.

Light it Up!

You know how a string of lights transforms a Christmas tree?  It can do the same for your porch.  Lights make any environment more joyful and festive.  Lights come in all shapes, sizes and colors such as lanterns, globes, butterflies, stars and even flip flops!  If there isn’t an electrical outlet handy, string lights also come in solar powered and battery operated.

Feeling Overexposed

Hang curtains for added privacy and protection from the sun.  Fabrics made of indoor/outdoor material simplify maintenance.  Curtain panels can easily be hung from a tension rod for easily installation and removal when the seasons change.

Soothing Sounds

Maybe your log cabin is located alongside a babbling brook and you can relax to the sound of flowing water.  If not, add a fountain for calming serenity.  Water features come in a variety of styles and sizes.  Wind chimes are another way to introduce relaxing background noise.

Name Game

Personalize your cabin getaway and give it a name!  Be descriptive or be amusing.  Put it on a sign and let the world know who you are.  Our favorite is “Knotty and Nice.”

Swing

Porches are made for swings.  Imagine sipping your morning tea on the swing.  Or maybe the kids will use it while taking a break from hide and seek.  Your favorite uncle might like having his favorite evening beverage while swinging.   Check out Conestoga’s porch swings, gliders, rockers and other log cabin furniture and accessories.  (link to furniture)

 Porch Planters – Classic Solution

It’s so easy to add flowers to your porch.  Pick and choose what flowers you like for the planter or buy one that is already made.  Traditional planters can frame your door.  Railing planters can house your herb garden.  Nowadays planter shape options go beyond urns, barrels, boxes, baskets and columns.   With so many choices, hopefully it won’t take you too long to find something you like.

Incorporate Color

Logs are beautiful but a little color adds a nice touch.  Include some color with an indoor/outdoor rug.  Toss some fun throw pillows on the rocking chairs.  Paint a bistro table your favorite color.  Be bold and paint your front door something different.  Patterns and color can liven up any space.
